AM. Media Literacy for the Young Journalist
Media Literacy for the Young Journalist is an educational resource that provides students with the skills they need to succeed in a digital media landscape. The program focuses on teaching research and evaluation, media analysis, and writing in a way that engages young journalists in the 21st century. Through hands-on learning and interactive activities, students learn how to craft a clear and concise message for their work and how to ethically report on the news.
The Students will Learn:
- how to recognize media bias
- how to verify online sources
- understanding the difference between fact and opinion
- recognizing when media is used to manipulate, and be able to analyze the different forms of media
PM. Young Artist - Pop Art Painting
This is a young artist's painting in the style of Pop Art. The vibrant, dynamic colors and playful imagery create an eye-catching visual statement. The canvas is filled with unique musical, cartoon and movie references, creating an energetic and visually stimulating piece. This painting will bring some life, energy and fun to any room.
The Students will Learn:
- the history of Pop Art
- major practitioners
- techniques
- should also become familiar with the various materials used for Pop Art painting, such as acrylic paints, spray cans, glitter, and other materials.
- should work on creating their own works of art inspired by the style and themes associated with Pop Art such as consumer culture, commonplace objects, and iconic images.
- learn how to properly care for their artwork and how to present it to others.
- students should be able to identify other examples of Pop Art in the world today.
