AM. How to think like a journalist 

Fakes news is everywhere as the way we read information has changed dramatically compared to the old-fashioned paper news and TV. While our young generation embraces every convenience and joyful experience that the new media provides, they need to master the skills to identify false news or misleading information. This is crucial to increase public knowledge and understanding for us, not just for our students who want to be a journalist but also for all youngsters. 


Students will learn:

  • Critical thinking
  • Cases study: how false news is made and spread
  • How to think like fact-checkers
  • What does reliable news look like
  • Practice combating fake news

PM. Survival Sewing

In the Zombie Apocalypse, can you survive? It might not sound like much, but the ability to sew a simple stitch can determine how long you can make it. How about sewing for sustainability? Why throw out gently damaged clothing, when you can stitch them up with a little fancy needlework? What kinds of materials would we need to make a tent? Let’s just learn this essential life skill.


Students will learn 

  • the basics of hand sewing
  • how to make a pattern
  • fundamentals of hand sewing including basic stitches that will allow them to sew simple clothing, plushies, or crafts without the need for a sewing machine.
