Program OverviewIn order to give our international students an exceptional English immersion experience, we are offering our parents the opportunity to host international students in their home.
In exchange for a one-week hosting of a student, we are offering one week of camp free! Host two students for twice the benefits! Not interested in camp credit? We're also offering $150 payment per student per week if you wouldn't like the camp credit. Homestay Frequently Asked Questions
What are the ages of students who come for 3 weeks?
Students are aged 12 to 18. Host families may express a preference as to the age of their hosted students.
What does the obligation include? Lodging, food, transportation?
Lodging – Yes, you must provide a place for the students to stay while they are here.
Food – Breakfast, Dinner, Snacks. We provide lunch while they attend Champion.
Transportation – Yes, to and from Champion Learning Academy each weekday. Drop off at Champion between 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. Pick up between 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. (The individual time commitments will vary depending on the tasks and curriculum of the student).
Are families compensated for food, transportation or other services?
Yes, families receive a $150 stipend per student per week -OR- receive a free week at Champion’s Summer Camp (a day-camp program for elementary aged students, a $215 value).
What are the exact dates?
Chinese Students for our Academic Camp will be in Morrisville from July 14 to July 27.
Art Camp will be in Morrisville from August 10 to Aug 23.
International students will be in Morrisville from June ??????
What are the requirements for homestay homes?
Homes must be able to provide each student with their own bedroom. We do not require homes be equipped with a private bathroom for the students. We will be conducting an interview of families within their homes to ensure that they are safe environments for students.
Will the students speak English?
Yes, all the students coming to America from China have conversational English skills. Furthermore, they are excited to deepen their understanding of the English language while here.
Will the students have insurance? Do the hosts need to be insured?
All students will have traveler's insurance while staying in America that includes health benefits. Hosts need not be insured for the students. Copies of all relevant insurance information will be given to host families when they meet their students.
How much time will the students spend with their host family?
Students are taken care of at the Champion facility during weekdays (approximately 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Evenings and weekends are spent with the host family. There are no requirements of grandiose plans during that time. Many students would love to simply experience a “typical weekend” in the life of an American student.
Are the students well-behaved and safe?
Yes, both Champion International Education Resources and the United States Government put a high value on bringing well-behaved, respectable students to America to study and grow. Our interview process requires three references. The recruiter in China runs a background check on all students recommended for the interview process.
